Achieve Better Results Now Not Next Year
How do we achieve better results? Well, I think that we take too much on in the first place and this costs us dearly over an extended period of time. So initially we need to minimize our actions to encompass only those things that could be described as income producing activities.
We race around trying to be great at everything and become poor at a lot of things. We should be concentrating on becoming excellent at one thing before moving on to others. What happens is that we become fragmented and distracted very easily.
Apart from hard smart work, there is a success formula that will assist us to focus on what is really important. The first question we should be asking ourselves is this: “Is this really important?” A very simple question, but highly effective when it comes down to time usage. We all want to achieve better results in a short span of time.
The Results Success Formula
Whether you are going to run a marathon, attain a degree or become a professional in your respective field, you need to focus on some kind of blueprint for success. In this particular case, we refer to it as a success formula.
There are three parts to this success formula and they are Purpose, Priority, and Productivity. I first came across this in print by reading The One Thing, a superb book written by Gary Keller with Jay Papasan.
Firstly you must know WHY you want to do something. This is called Purpose and it comes without saying that this must be in place for you to operate at maximum output or performance. If there is a lack of purpose you won’t achieve half of what you want. Ask yourself this question, “Is this what I really want?”
The purpose is the real reason that you are doing something and the feelings must be strong, otherwise, you will quit at some stage. If you eliminate as many distractions as possible this will be one of the most critical things that you can do.
The next thing that you have to do is prioritize. Make this your number one Priority. What normally happens is that we make this long list of everything that we think needs doing. This is a recipe for disaster because you must prioritize if you want to be successful. Ask yourself this question, “What is my number one priority?”
There is a lot to take in when you first start something new, take a deep breath and choose the most important task first and complete that before moving on. The key is to narrow your focus down to what really matters.
Productivity is the next component. When all is said and done, we must get on with things. When you produce it must be massive action over a sustained period of time. The main thing is to keep it simple and not to overcomplicate your project, which is so easy to do.
Keep asking yourself is this question, “Is what I am doing taking me closer to my outcome or further away?”
The success formula is relatively simple, but not easy. If your purpose was achieved with little effort, it probably wouldn’t be worth doing in the first place. This blueprint will help you achieve better results more rapidly and keep you on track.
