Self Control

Self Control: The Major Attributes Of Leadership Part II

Self control. I think the key with this particular trait is staying on an even keel, not getting upset easily and begin to lose patience etc.

If you lose your temper quickly then other people will not want you as their leader. In other words you will never be able to control or influence people.self control

You must set the best example by staying cool under fire. From what I have seen leaders do this, but most people start flapping and panicking.

Obviously things are going to go pear shaped occasionally. It is very easy to lose it and start ranting and raving. This is where the leader excels, remains chilled out and quietly gets on with the challenge in hand.

Your loss of self control also affects the you. It may make you feel awful temporarily and unable to function as a leader.

Also a leader may never recover his or her position as a trusted leader when they display any anger whatsoever. So leaders should stay calm, centered and stay effective. Self control is a vital part of rising to the top.
