Do You Let Go Of What You Can’t Control?
I think the question really is, “How much are we in control of ?” The answer to that is either, “Not very much.” or “Not as much as you think.”
You Can Control Your Attitude
So what is your attitude like? Does it stink, is it just ok or is it top notch?
Are you happy with your attitude to your day to day life, because it is much healthier for you as an individual to display the correct posture and attitude towards other people.Your attitude speaks volumes about who you really are as a person.
You Can Control Your Reactions
If you have a car accident or a prospective customer cancels an appointment, how do you react? Do you throw your teddy bear in the corner and have a temper tantrum or do you just say to yourself, “That is just one of those things?”
You see how you react to events, obstacles, challenges and hurdles defines who you are as a person. Do you shake your fist and swear at other motorists or do you ignore those who try to provoke you? Let go of hate and being angry.
As a police officer it became an art to react in the right way. Being cool, calm and chilled out became second nature, but it didn’t mean I was less effective and efficient. In fact I would say quite the opposite. A smile was always far more powerful and impressive than a serious face.
You Can Control Your Thoughts
This most definitely one of those areas that is critical to your success moving forward, because you can actually control the vast majority of your thought patterns. Your thought patterns will be best served if you control your environment to the best of your ability.
Ensure that you spend as much time as possible around people who uplift and support you. Sometimes this may be difficult with family members and especially rebellious teenagers etc.
But generally speaking you can input a tremendous amount of good stuff into your mind through associations, books and videos etc. This is all about personal choice, so chose very wisely.
You Can Control Your Actions
You have total control over actions or lack of action. There are absolutely no excuses here, either you make money or you make excuses. The same goes when you are in training for that fun run, marathon or boxing match.
Your success will hinge on your daily method of operation and the accumulation of great training sessions. remember either you do or you don’t. It is that simple.
You Can Control How You Feel
I realize that sometimes your feelings and emotions are seriously attacked, challenged or compromised. But usually you can control how you feel about things that happen or that are said. If you have lost a family member or partner, then you are going to feel down big time, but what about the other 99% of things that happen to you in any given day, week or month. How do you feel most of the time?I feel great how do you feel about life?
I am sure there are many other ways of controlling yourself, but understand you cannot control how others react to you at any one time or events as they unfold.
You will not be able to control other people, how they feel and act. Accept that you can only control yourself and not things out of your sphere of influence, which are many.
Get a big piece of paper or card and write this short sentence in massive letters, “LET IT GO.”
